My Stay at the Taj Dubai – A Hotel Review

Opened for only a few months the Taj Dubai is one of the new hotel offerings in the downtown area. Located just a stones throw away from the Dubai Mall and the iconic Burj Kalifa, it’s conveniently located for both business travellers and holiday makers alike.

On my recent trip to Dubai I was invited to stay, enjoy the Taj’s amenities and share my experiences with you.

As the name suggests the Taj has strong Indian influences, both in it’s design and decor, and it’s hospitality. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with a delicious rosewater flavoured juice and a refreshing chilled towel to revive ourselves after our 14 hour flight.

The lobby is white and bright with a stunning crystal chandelier as it’s centrepiece, it is Dubai after all so bling is 100% compulsory. I loved the abundant orchid flower arrangements throughout the hotel.

The rooms are super comfortable, with all the mod cons I’d expect in a luxury hotel, comfortable bed, big TV, room safe and fluffy towels. But it was all the little extra details that really take it up a notch and make the rooms at the Taj stand out from the crowd.

Best things about the rooms at the Taj Dubai

The View

If you stay in a room on the Burj Kalifa side of the hotel you get unrestricted views of the Dubai fountain and tallest building in the world. At night you can watch the dancing fountains right from the comfort of your room, it’s pretty spectacular.

I really hate when you get to a hotel and there is no where to put your luggage, so when I saw this dedicated dressing and wardrobe area I was so excited and unpacked straight away. Plenty of hanging space, dedicated benches for luggage and a huge safe big enough to fit a laptop and lots of camera gear. Top marks Taj.
With cases and clothes out of the way the room always looked tidy.

Lots of Power Points
I often struggle to find enough power points in most hotel rooms to plug in all my gadgets. But at the Taj there was power points to spare, and the best thing is they were all universal so no adapters required, (which was awesome because I forgot mine at home).

Super Luxe Bathroom

Nothing conveys luxury more than a beautiful big marble bathroom with fluffy robes and premium toiletries. I found a spare hour in our schedule to have a big bubble bath and it was bliss! It was made even better by the large window which meant I could still enjoy the stunning views of the Burg Kalifa,

Sweet Treats

Forget a mint on your pillow, at the Taj you get a plate of delicious tea time treats placed in you room every day. Yummy macarons, yes please!

Large rooms

The room was nice and large with a sofa that converts to a bed to cater for families. Each room can sleep 4, two adults and upto 2 children under 12, which makes it great value for a family stay. The bed was a comfy king size made all the more awesome because I didn’t have to share it!

Other highlights

I highly recommend the buffet breakfast at the Tesoro restaurant on L3. It had a delicious international breakfast selection with a crepe station and a la carte eggs made to order. For me the real highlight was the middle eastern breakfast selection which I ate every day. It was so good, don’t miss the lamb kibbeh and the home made hummus.

If you are in Dubai for some R & R the pool deck is perfect for catching some rays and taking a dip.
There are two pools, the upper pool has a swim up bar for cocktail sipping and the lower pool is shallow which is ideal for kidlettes. I loved very comfortable sun lounges with super chic yellow striped towels.
A lifeguard is on duty through the day and at night the pool area transforms into an outdoor lounge and shisha bar.

I had a very comfortable stay at the Taj Dubai and would definitely stay again if I was to return.
My only regret, no time for a massage at the spa.
