Flying Doctor Kids Club

The flying doctor Kids club

Living in a Melbourne it’s easy to take for granted how easily we can access medical care, but for those living in remote and rural communities around Australia, sometimes the only doctor you may see needs to fly in on a plane! The Royal Flying Doctor Service not only provides emergency aero-medical transport, but I was surprised to learn that they also provide primary health care programs such as diabetes, mobile eye and dental care clinics, and rural women’s GP services.

Because the Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria is passionate about connecting rural and urban families they’ve recently launched a traditional Kids Club to get kids excited about one of Australia’s most iconic organisations – it’s a free club which will feature birthday greetings, regular newsletters in the mail and activities to provide children with an insight into the important work that the Flying Doctors has provided since 1928.

Children between 5 – 12 years old are invited to join the Club and if they register before 24th March 2016, they could win an iPad and a Pilots pack.

Members of the Flying Doctor Kids Club will receive annual birthday and Christmas cards from Kids Club mascot Flynn the Flyer, and regular newsletters featuring history, health and geography brain teasers, fun facts and a chance to learn about Aussie kids in remote communities.

Sounds like fun, and who doesn’t love getting something nice in the post!

How cool is that!!! My hubby did some work for the flying doctors and we’ve been hearing a lot about them when spending time in rural locations. Signing my boys up now! x
