Australian Etsy sellers will harness their creative skills of to raise funds for Plan International’s Because I Am A Girl campaign through the #makeforgood project to help create a silver lining for girls living in poverty.
Etsy are aiming to raise AU$20,000 to change the lives of 150 young women through grants to start their own microenterprises. Funds raised through #makeforgood will support projects that help promote the equal rights of all children, helping girls around the world – and their entire communities – out of poverty.
#makeforgood products will be available for sale on Etsy from Sunday 11 October 2015, which is the United Nations’ International Day of the Girl.
How to get involved
If you have an Etsy store why not register to take part and create a #makeforgood product.
The theme is ‘silver linings for girls’ so let that inspire you.
You can develop an entirely new product or you can make tweaks to an existing product to reflect the theme.
(You just need to donate at least 20% of the sale price to the campaign – Etsy will donate their usual commission for that item to the campaign too, so it’s a win-win!).
If you like making things but don’t have an Etsy store yet, they are offering 20 free listing for new sellers, so it’s the perfect opportunity to get involved. If you shop on Etsy you can find #Makeforgood products here. It’s a great way to support indie makers and improve the lives of girls all over the world!
