I truly dislike it and avoid it at all costs, which isn&#8217;t so great when running a small business.<\/p>\n<p>I do, however, love pretty stationery. So since I&#8217;m too cheap to pay for &#8216;designer stationery&#8217; and i need to entice myself into action, I buy plain old bits&#8217;n&#8217;pieces and pretty them up myself.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a whole lot nicer to sit down with a colourful folder in front of you to get organised when it looks good.<\/p>\n<p>This is my latest attempt at getting my act together &#8211; a paper patchwork folder.<\/p>\n<h2>You will need:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Plain brown A4 ringed binder (got mine at officeworks)<\/li>\n<li>Set of white A4 dividers<\/li>\n<li>Manilla folder in any colour<\/li>\n<li>Colourful and patterned papers<\/li>\n<li>Scissors<\/li>\n<li>Mod Podge + paintbrush<\/li>\n<li>Glue stick<\/li>\n<li>Sewing machine (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to:<\/h2>\n<h3>To decoupage folder<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-57147\" src=\"https:\/\/mypoppet.com.au\/makes\/mp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/patchworkfolder2.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Patchwork folder - mypoppet.com.au\" width=\"600\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mypoppet.com.au\/makes\/mp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/patchworkfolder2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mypoppet.com.au\/makes\/mp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/patchworkfolder2-300x250.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mypoppet.com.au\/makes\/mp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/patchworkfolder2-330x275.jpg 330w, https:\/\/mypoppet.com.au\/makes\/mp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/patchworkfolder2-552x460.jpg 552w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>1. Collect all your patterned paper and cut out a bazillion little hexagons. I used a template approx 4cm wide and needed 72 hexagons.<\/p>\n<p>2. Working from the edges, use your paintbrush with the Mod Podge to glue the hexagons onto the front of your folder.<\/p>\n<p>3. Place colours and patterns randomly to create a nice patchwork effect. Glue them on and coat over the top of them as you go too. Mod Podge is a glue and sealer in one, super-easy to work with, dries clear and gives a nice durable and varnished looking finish.<\/p>\n<p>4. Use decorative paper to cover divider tabs for a co-ordinated look. Glue the coloured paper onto tabs and cut around the tab shape for a neat finish.<\/p>\n<p>6. Make pockets for receipts and small papers by cutting down a coloured manila folder to measure 22cm x 15cm.<\/p>\n<p>7. Sew around three sides of the pocket with a wide zig-zag stitch on the sewing machine. This is optional, you could just glue the edges together if you wanted. I like the homey feel of stitching.<\/p>\n<p>8.
