I Can Fly…

What was meant to be a ‘this is what I wore today’ post has turned in to a ‘Look, I can fly’ post. It’s obvious that I have a small crush on animated GIFs, especially when they let me levitate.

We had a very small window of spring sunshine here in Melbourne that was too good to waste on a boring ‘look at me, I’m so stylish’ pose, so here is a little bit of silliness.

Oh, so did you really want to know what I’m wearing?

Cardigan – Lowrys Farm (bought in Tokyo)
Skirt – Vintage Fletcher Jones from Hunter Gatherer
Sandals – Swedish Hasbeens

Marimekko e-Mook

I almost forgot to tell you about one of my last book purchases in Tokyo. It’s a Marimekko e-Mook. An e-Mook is all the rage in Japan apparently, a cross between a magazine and a book, with the kicker being a premium gift all for around $15. There were a heap of fashion labels doing them with some worthwhile gifts, but I liked the cheerful bag included in this one. We accidentally stumbled on the Marimekko store in OMOTESANDO, it was all gorgeous but a little expensive for my budget, so a $15 bag was a special treat!

The book is essentially a product cataloug with some lovely interiors and a free dress pattern. Here I am having some fun modeling my bag. It’s super fun, perfect for this spring and summer.

Have you ever bought a product just because of the ‘Gift with Purchase’?

It’s Dancey Dance Time!

What better way to show off my new Vintage Vest than by flailing my arms around wildly?

I love everything about it. It’s quiltiness, the wooden toggles and especially the yellow binding.

Its the perfect weight for spring, and leaves my arms free for interpretative dance.

As Emma would say “I love it, I love it, I really really love it”

We had lots of fun taking these photos of my disappearing arms with a long exposure time on the camera. I made this animated gif as my first ever project in photoshop, it almost drove me insane, but I’m trying to learn to use it, so I have to start somewhere.

If you want to make your own animated gif you can do it the easy way using my tutorial here, no photoshop required.

I hope I haven’t made you too dizzy…

Animation Friday – Zip goes Up!

I made this sleeping bag for Emma yesterday, and for someone who has an irrational fear of inserting zips, I am super pleased at how this project turned out. I even caught myself doing a Homer Simpson (how gen X of me) Zip goes UP, Zip Goes DOWN, Zip goes UP…like I’d never used a zip before haha!

Sewers, you understand what I mean, a bad zip inserting experience can make or break a project, non?

So if you are clever or brave enough to want to make your own toddler sleeping bag, I’ve written detailed instructions on how to do so without a pattern over on MADE OF CLOTH. It assumes some sewing knowledge so I thought my sewing blog was the best place for it.

Time to make your own animation, it’s really easy. Here are some simple instructions on how to make moving pictures…have a go, you’ve got all week. Post it to your blog and link here so we can all see. Remember to link back to this post so your other readers can join in to.

Animation Friday – A royal wave!

It seems the whole world is going royally crazy! I’ve tried to avoid buying into all the hoopla until now, but it seems my defenses have weakened and I too will probably watch the wedding tonight. It’s either that on every channel or the football, so unless Mr Man commandeers the remote, wedding it will be.

I will not be donning a tiara to watch, but I may have a Pimms (or two) to toast to the couples happiness…any excuse for a Pimms!

Thanks to Kellie from Mini Must Have for suggesting this weeks Animation Friday Theme – A royal wave, via twitter. I hope I’ve done it justice Kellie?

This is the best I could so animation-wise till my computer is repaired, I’ve really got my fingers crossed that I’ll get i back today…I’m having withdrawals!

Make an animation if you fancy. I’d love to see some of your royal wedding celebrations if you are having a party.

Animation Good Friday…

I’d Like to wish all of you a very safe and happy Easter break.
How ever you choose to celebrate this time, religious or non, it is a perfect opportunity to slow down and reflect, enjoy the company of family and friends, and eat a little too much chocolate.

I’ll be taking a forced vacation from my computer till next week when hopefully it can be repaired after a minor breakdown. Too much blogging? But will be kept busy hunting eggs and celebrating Emma’s birthday.

Hope the Easter bunny pays you a visit wherever you choose to spend your 5 day break.

x Cinti

Animation Friday – We Will Rock You!

Emma has taken to singing some of Queen’s classic hits. ♫ We Will Rock You ♫ Bicycle ♫ Don’t Stop Me Now ♫ she knows all the good ones. We have the Playstation Singstar game to thank for that one, you see (embarrassing confession) mummy loves to belt out some classic hits, karaoke style, the cheesier the better.

We get some amused looks at the playground when she belts out We Will Rock You at the top of her lungs. At least she has good taste in music…

Come on sing along, I know you know the words…

What do you enjoy that’s a little bit daggy? Don’t worry, I can keep a secret, lol.

Edit: have had a few questions about what Emma is wearing. I made the vest ( you can see a better photo here ), the apple pants are from My rocking wardrobe bought a while ago on sale.
