Nothing tastes as good as a homemade sausage roll straight out of the oven. When the Mr suggested I pop over to the local bakery to pick up some sausage rolls for lunch, I whipped up a batch of my Super Easy Sausage Rolls instead, with just a few ingredients already sitting in my fridge.
There’s hardly any prep worked involved and not much clean up either. My secret trick is using ready made beef sausages instead of sausage mince which is full of fat and fillers.
You can use any style of sausage you like, but for best results I like to use a gourmet variety. Choose the best quality sausages you can afford for tastiest results.
I always keep frozen puff pastry sheets in my freezer because they are so versatile, everything tastes better wrapped in pastry.
Emma couldn’t resist helping me with assembling these easy to make sausage rolls, and this recipe is simple enough for older kids to make on their own.

These sausage rolls are so cute. They look quite tasty, too! And all the ingredients are readily available in our grocery store here in Virginia. Thanks for the recipe!
It’s a very typical Australian party food. I grew up eating them for my lunch in primary school.
In high school we’d put them in a buttered bread roll with tomato sauce (ketchup) and eat as a recess snack.
Another one to try! Thank you.
I always like finding short cuts in the kitchen. Hope you enjoy the recipe.
Made these tonight for a quick addition to dinner. They went down a treat with hubbie. Thanks for the recipe! Love it!
Awesome. I’m sure they’ll be part of your regular dinner repertoire. A fun alternative to sausage and mash. Great with a salad in summer.
You’re making me hungry. I’m making this tonight.
Now I’m hungry, just talking about being hungry. lol 🙂
Okay, I’ve got to try the sausage roles..they look awesome and easy to make which is right up my alley! Thanks so much for such a great website! Love it!
This is about to be a dumb question, but are the sausages the precooked varieties or does the filling go into the pastry raw? The end result looks delicious!
The filling is raw. It cooks in the oven with the pastry.
Hi, such a treat to have found your recipe. I make bulk, freeze them without the egg wash and sesame – thaw, then egg-wash and seed them. It’s Spring here in Australia and the perfect snack or BBQ side.
Thank you
