Eden Beach Club, Dubai – Where Mermaids go for some well earned R&R

If you are looking for a place to unwind in Dubai after a few days of sight seeing and dune hopping, or maybe you want to channel your inner Mermaid, Eden Beach Club fits the bill.

The idea of going to a beach club is something that we aren’t really used to doing in Australia, I mean the concept of paying to spend time at private beach is pretty alien to us as all Australian beaches are free for public use. But we are pretty unique in that respect, in Europe and other parts of the world it’s pretty normal to pay for beach access in the way of lounge hire or a minimum drink spend. It’s not better or worse, just different.

So in the spirit of ‘do as the locals do’ I recruited a band of Mermaids to hang out at the Eden Beach Club in Dubai and spend an afternoon ‘chillaxing’.

So how is spending the day at Eden Beach Club different to just hanging out at a regular beach? An easy way to explain it is that beach club feels like you are staying at a fancy beach side resort hotel, without the hotel part.

The Eden Beach club was a great way to relax after our jam packed schedule. If you don’t want to swim in the sea there was a small pool with a swim up bar. We ordered lunch, and admittedly my expectations weren’t super high, but my club sandwich was one of the best I’d ever had, it was seriously good! We gave the cocktails as miss and opted for some refreshing green juices instead.

Although it’s not really marketed to families, during the day it’s very family friendly, with plenty of shallow water to splash around in. The girls and I had fun mucking about on the giant pool inflatables. When the sun sets the place turns into a busy night spot, with popular DJs ‘spinning tunes’.

Canon loaned me a Canon PowerShot D30 underwater camera to take with me and we had lots of fun in the pool getting creative and experimenting with some underwater photography. We really did feel like mermaids that day.
