Time for your kid to unleash their inner Super Hero! The Good Guys and Circus Oz have teamed up to create the Super Hero Academy, two hours of fun, circus activities for primary school age kids – and it’s free!
Emma and I headed to the inaugural workshop at the Meat Market, a beautiful heritage venue in North Melbourne which was transformed by giant inflatable space ship sculptures into an out of this world fantasy land. The kid could barely contain her excitement.
The Super Hero Academy is not about being the strongest or fastest; it’s about kids finding the Super Hero within their personalities.
The program is designed for girls and boys aged six to twelve build their self-confidence and inner strength in a non-competitive environment through interactive super hero themed activities.
Emma learned new skills such as mini-tramp, tumbling, acrobatic balance and was part of a human pyramid. The kids also had a go at conquering the trapeze and aerial ring – like a true super hero!
We didn’t leave empty handed, at the end of the workshop, each child received a goodie bag that included a cape, mask and Super Hero Academy certificate. I foresee lots of super hero play in the near future.
The Good Guys have created the Super Hero Academy as part of their Doing Good program that aims to help create happy and healthy communities across Australia. The program will be touring nationally and make its way around Australia over the next 12 months, with capital cities and major regional centres on the tour plan.
