Today I walked passed a very special place while I was showing a friend around my very favourite parts of Melbourne. This special place is unassuming, but if you let it, it will take you on a journey back in time, for a little while anyway.
Sometimes you can find magic in the everyday if you look hard enough…
In a little shopping street near my home there is a place where time stood still. THE LAUNDRETTE
A snapshot of the 80s with its pine panelling, pastel Aqua machines and graphic grid table top for folding clothes – it’s immaculately maintained and you could be forgiven for thinking it was 1985 when you walk in the door.
Maybe The Laundrette is a Time Machine!
“We all have our time machines. Some take us back, they’re called memories. Some take us forward, they’re called dreams.”
Jeremy Irons

We’ve got a few like that here. You’ve made me see them from a totally different angle, than old and rundown. Ha!!! Yes, I did love the ones in Melbourne. There was a certain something about them. I love the colour of this one!
