Kids Craft: Pom Pom Pineapple

Kids Craft: Pom Pom Pineapple mypoppet.com.au

Ok, I admit it – I’m a little pineapple obsessed. Even though it might be winter here as I create this fruity tutorial, I am dreaming of warm summer days and big bowls of fresh fruit salad.

Besides being a lovely reminder of summer days this little project is a great craft activity for the school holidays and super easy too. You don’t need many supplies to whip up your pineapple and most of them you probably already have in your craft box.

Let’s make a Pom Pom Pineapple!

Supplies to make your pineapple

You will need:

  • yellow craft Pom Poms
  • craft glue or hot glue gun
  • foam craft sheets
  • scissors
  • card stock
  • pen or sharpie

How to:

1/ Create your Pineapple shape – perhaps you are clever enough to draw one free-hand, or if drawing is not your strong point like me try to find a pineapple shape to make a template. We made one cut-out for the head of the pineapple and one for the body of the pineapple.

2/ Place your pineapple templates on top of your foam sheets and trace around them. Now cut out your pineapple head and body. We used yellow and green foam sheets but you could use any colours you like to jazz up your pineapple.

3/ Now its time to go pom pom crazy and fill up your pineapple body with yellow pom poms. Get your glue and pom poms ready!

4/ After you have filled up your pineapple body shape, its time to glue the head of the pineapple onto the top.

5/ Now you are done! How amazing does your pom pom pineapple look?

What to do with your cool craft now? Well why not stick it up on your bedroom wall? Or create a few more pineapples and make a fruity garland. Or how about creating some other fruit shapes and make your own Fruit Salad?
