If you are looking for an interesting way to decorate your home this Halloween, why not make a planter from an old doll’s head? It has a macabre feel to it in an old fashioned Victorian Memento mori kind of way, but is still kind of lovable. I love upcycling in new and interesting ways, and this Doll’s Head Planter will certainly get some conversations started.
Is it creepy? Well that depends if you find eyes that follow you around the room a little unsettling. I’ve grown fond of her and she has found a permanent place in my garden alongside my other plant pots.
This poor dolly with a mark on her head was rescued from the thrift store, I paid only $1. Several of these would look kind of cool en masse, and would be even more amazing with porcelain dolls heads like these.
I’ve created this project as a Frankie DIY exclusive. You can get the full instructions here -> DIY DOLL’S HEAD PLANTER
If you want to get extra creative try painting Day of the Dead face paint designs on it, plant with some flowers for a floral crown effect.
Hope this creepy upcycle project has given you some great project inspiration. Now what to do with the rest of the doll’s body? Any ideas?
