This yarn review and free crochet pattern is a collaboration with American Yarns.

Well, we are currently in lockdown 2.0 here in Melbourne, so I’m keeping myself entertained with some crochet and plenty of TV.

Lucky for me I picked up some lovely new yarn from American Yarns to keep my hands busy.

Cozy Yarn for Chilly Weather

Premier Everyday Bamboo yarn

Premier Everyday Bamboo is made from Bamboo derived rayon and anti-pilling acrylic.

This chunky yarn is light, warm and super soft against the skin. Great for projects like hats, neck warmers and scarves.

Spun with three colours to create a soft heather effect, it’s very flattering to wear.

Available in 12 colours, with a nice range of neutrals and brights.

I really enjoyed crocheting with this yarn. It’s silky to work with and feels lovely to wear, almost as soft as angora.

Because it’s chunky, projects work up quickly. Perfect if you love instant gratification from your crochet projects.

This very easy cowl pattern is quick to make and can be whipped up with just one ball of Premier Anti-Pilling Bamboo yarn.

The puff stitches make a lovely textured fabric which is nice and warm. Ideal for keeping the chill off the back of your neck in the cooler months without needing to wear a bulky scarf.

Don’t be intimidated by the Puff Stitch. If you can make a double crochet (treble UK) you can do a puff stitch.

You’ll be surprised at how quickly this cowl crochets up. This one only took me an afternoon from start to finish. And because the pattern is quite simple, it’s the ideal crochet project to enjoy while watching a movie.

slip stitch to finish cowl

Break yarn and weave in ends.

All done!

The last row of slip stitches helps reinforce the edge of the cowl and helps prevent it from stretching.

Puff stitch cowl crochet pattern

This stitch pattern looks great on both the right side, and the reverse.

Here’s the right side… each puff stitch is well defined.

And the reverse…

As you can see the rows look even more defined and the loops on the puff stitches are even puffier.

Wear whichever side you prefer as the outside of the cowl.
